About Enterprise Technology
Enterprise Technology is a department within the Office
of Information Technology at The University
of Alabama.
Enterprise Technology staff members are responsible for the
computer systems that provide academic and administrative services to the
University and for the University's network infrastructure and backbone.
Enterprise Technology provides leadership and planning as well as maintenance
and repair.
Enterprise Technology is divided into the following teams:
- Information Systems Security: Coordinate response to campus
security concerns; manage security on administrative systems
- Networking: Design new networks,
maintain the core network equipment, and ensure connectivity
to the rest of the campus
- Operating System Administration: Administer the IBM
MVS mainframe (administrative system) and multiple Unix servers
- Operations: Monitor, maintain, and schedule use of the central computers,
printers, and other equipment; perform production control functions
